The project "Digitization and Documentation of Collections and Creation of the Digital Museum of the Holy Metropolis of Syros", funded by the Operational Program for Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (code O.P.S. 5093155), aims to highlight the ecclesiastical collections of the Holy Metropolis of Syros and the Holy Monastery of the Virgin Mary of Tourliani. The project focuses on showcasing exhibits through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications, emphasizing the protection and promotion of ecclesiastical art as a vital aspect of the Center for Ecclesiastical Art (KEA) of the Holy Metropolis of Syros and an integral part of the country’s cultural life. Key developments include virtual tours that allow visitors to explore churches and admire artworks as if they were physically present, digital exhibitions featuring significant artifacts from the collections, and timelines detailing the lives and works of prominent artists associated with the Metropolis. Additionally, educational applications designed as interactive e-books for children present parables in an engaging manner, helping them grasp the teachings of the Church. Specially designed Augmented Reality cards serve as "targets" for displaying content on mobile devices, bringing to life images, texts, and 3D representations related to the Church's spiritual and cultural heritage.
