Design and Development of Innovative Travel Applications with Entertaining and Playful Features
The project Colour & Travel aimed at designing and developing an alternative, interactive framework for exploring various travel destinations with playful and entertaining features, enhancing the user’s travel experience while promoting diverse forms of tourism.
The innovation of the project lay in the creation of a platform for developing travel guides for mobile devices, enriched with entertaining and playful elements. It offered the ability to generate personalized travel narratives and to create a platform for interactive virtual reality games with similar interactivity features. Additionally, it developed web applications to attract, inform, and entertain tourists and visitors about the culture and history of a location.
The project provided a tool to highlight Greece’s rich cultural heritage (and beyond) and link cultural heritage with tourism and development. Furthermore, it aimed to encourage tourists and visitors to experience new interactive ways of acquiring knowledge and enhancing their travel experience, primarily by transforming the cultural environment into an active storytelling system with multiple layers of interactivity. This allowed users to create a personalized view of the space in which they moved, based on customized terms.
