Gastronomy of Samos Island

Samos is a verdant island situated in the east-central Aegean Sea. According to mythology, it was where Hera was born, and later, in antiquity, the birthplace of Pythagoras and Aristarchus. The island possesses its own special natural beauty, marvellous beaches, archaeological monuments and places of historical interest. Its easy access by boat and airplane, and the possibilities it offers visitors to partake in a wealth of activities, combine to transform it into a singular holiday destination. Those making their way to the island also have the opportunity to sample both Samos’ most delectable traditional cuisine – which highlights one-of-a-kind local products – and its extremely flavoursome moscato (muscat) white wine, for which the island is famous.
