Platform for Discovering, Visualizing, and Processing Large Open Data
DataSource project delivered a technological platform, an ecosystem that generates added value from the aggregation and synthesis of open data provided by independent stakeholders in the scientific value chain, aimed at facilitating data-driven research. Within the project, a user friendly system was designed and implemented based on cutting-edge technologies that can collect, visualize, and process combined data from open datasets available online, utilizing distributed systems for processing large volumes of data on cloud computing platforms.
Users are able to utilize the platform to execute queries across all available interconnected databases with DataSource through a user-friendly graphical interface. They have a brief preview of available results, perform basic transformations on the combined data, and they can retrieve the final processed outcome via available links. The necessary subsystems for information visualization, aggregation, and algorithmic processing was developed using scalable data management techniques. The final system assists users from various fields, such as researchers and public sector employees, in conducting their research easily.
The project with id: T2ΕΔΚ-01231 was implemented under the "Research – Create – Innovate" Action, Phase B, funded by the Operational Programme "Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPAnEK)," NSRF 2014-2020. Our company collaborates with the Computational Systems Laboratory (CSLab) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Local and Regional Development Laboratory of the University of Piraeus.
