AGEID
Control Centers for the Wellbeing of Elders with Intellectual Disabilities
The aim of the proposed project was to develop applications that supported individuals with intellectual disabilities, particularly those in older age groups, using wearable devices and sensors available on the market at affordable prices. The project studied, programmed, and evaluated a range of wearable sensors (for measuring biometric data, location, and movement) and stationary sensors (for detecting movement, presence, door opening/closing, environmental conditions, and noise) to identify the most suitable ones in terms of reliability, interoperability, user acceptance, efficiency, and maintenance feasibility. Subsequently, services were developed using these sensors to monitor and support the independent living of elderly individuals with intellectual disabilities.
